Obama and Taxes Part II

I was thinking about finishing my concerns with this issue later on in the week, but I might as well finish it now. I was talking to a tax accountant a few weeks ago, and the topic of the election came about. I asked her how she felt about the candidates, and she said that she was deathly afaid of Obama becoming president. One of the biggest reasons that she is concerned is that he wants to implemant so many government programs, that at some point during his presidancy, every tax group would be effected, especially the upper and middle class. The other reason is that we wants to give too many tax breaks to the poor, and those benefiting from government assistance. She has had clients upset that they didn’t qualify for certain government benefits because they got a raise or a better job, some have even denied getting a promotion because they knew they would make too much. Next, she was concerned because Obama’s definition of being wealthy is unclear. He states $200,000 is rich, but there is reason to be concerned that his definition of rich could change, a possibly drop below $100,000. Finally, Obama wants to tax corporations and gas companies more. If he does this, two things will happen: companies will close, and the ones that stay open will raise prices hurting the middle class even more.

So, upon closer look, Obama wants to give the less deserving and those trying to cheat the system more incentives, and tax those who are more deserving. This post isn’t coming from someone who is making 100,000+. My wife and I make less than $50,000 a year, and have two children. We are far from rich, and struggle on a daily basis. But everyday, we try to find new ways to make more money to better provide for our situation. Why should we be taxed at a much higher percentage to do so?

Tomorrow will be my last day on taxes.

Obama on Taxes

I’m one of those voters who doesn’t like to vote down party lines.  I like to read where politicians stand and vote for the one that best suits my ideals and morals.  I have already started doing my research, and even though I know who I am leaning towards, I still research because I want to know fully who I’m voting for, or against.  I was doing research on the cadidates and their standpoint on taxes.  Obama’s policy I find unfair, and even troubling.  His policy is to raise the taxes on the wealthy back up to the pre-Bush days, and give more breaks to the middle class, and even more to the poor.  What I don’t understand is, why are we punishing those who work hard, and try to make their lives better?  Why are we punishing them for following the American dream, and being successful at it?  By raising the taxes, on the wealthy, you are punishing the successful, and preventing others from wanting to be successful.  Imagine being taxed 39% of your total income?  That would prevent me from working harder and trying to earn more money.  How about you?

That’s it for today, but I’ll blog about this later on in the week.

Through my daughter’s eyes

It’s not easy being a dad. Going to bed late, getting up a couple times during the night, and then leaving early in the morning to go to work. But being a dad is the most rewarding thing that I have ever been able to do. One of the things I love the most about being a dad is seeing things through my daughter’s eyes. This year I have seen many things through her eyes: Christmas morning with her bike under the Christmas tree, walking into our hotel room that overlooks the ocean, and seeing Shamu jump out of the water only to come down and make a gigantic splash. Seeing all of these things through her eyes has made me realize how precious life is, and how easy it is to take things for granted. As adults we take so many things for granted, but children cherish everything they see and do. As adults, we need to view our lives more like a child views theirs.

The following post is brought to you by www.autobodycolumbus.com.

Well, I have to admit to something; I am a man of a few accidents. One of the hardest things to do is find a good body repair shop that can repair the car to pre-accident form. Look no further than auto body columbus This website takes all the guessing work out of finding a body shop that is best for your needs. So if you ever find yourself in an accident, don’t compound it by taking it to an unknown or over-priced body shop, visit this website instead.

Narnia Exhibit

My family and I went to the Narnia exhibit at our local science museum last night, and it was ok.  Now before all you Narnia people get upset; this is coming from a person who has little to no interest in the books or movies.  I went because my wife wanted to go, and thought that my daughter would enjoy it too.  As we were walking through the fictional land of Narnia, we came to a part of the exhibit where the weather turned from summer to a long, cold winter.  Well, the creators of the exhibit thought that this would be a great place to incorporate Global Warming.  I was furious.  What the hell are they trying to do by throwing global warming into an exhibit like this.  Are they trying to say that global warming is a myth like Narnia?  I highly doubt that, but here I am trying to enjoy an evening with my family and I’m thrown this crap.

Personally, I don’t know what my take is on global warming.  I do believe that humans are doing damage to the earth, but I also believe that we are in a natural warming trend right now; and in the next few years we will go through a cooling trend.  I have two pieces of evidence that the earth goes through a natural warming and cooling trend.  Evidence 1: Remember the ice age?  Well how did the ice melt?  The earth naturally warmed up.  2) In the 1970’s scientists believed that we were going through global cooling, and that everything was going to freeze.  Um; it warmed up a few years after that.

I’m just tired of all this ’going green’ garbage.  We’re forced fed this information, and forced to buy green products that don’t even work.   By the way, going green is too expensive for me and my family that has two kids in disposable diapers; that uses paper plates and styrofoam cups because washing the dishes takes too much energy after a long day.  Well, good night.  I’m now going to drive my Pinto that hasn’t had an emissions test in 20 years to the Circle K around the corner.

In a time where standardized and proficancy tests reign, there is an educator out there that dares to find creative ways to get children to learn and stay in school. Norberto Diaz, “Bert”, started off in the New Jersey school system where he taught as a music teacher for 14 years. He is currently a Latin musician and a principal who is beloved by his students, community and parents. Bert has just started a blog at http://norbertodiaz.wordpress.com/, and he uses his blog to share his songs that he writes to keep children excited and interested in school. His energy over the years has allowed him to impact many childrens lives, and he would like to share his experience at his website.

I went to post my blog last night, and a strange thing occurs; I have a comment from one of my readers.  “Whoa,” I say to myself, “someone is actually reading this, I better start writing about good topics.”  All kidding aside, I want my readers to contribute.  If you agree with me, great, state why.  If you disagree with me, great, state why.  I’m not here to change opinons, I’m here to give a fresh voice, to engage in dialog.

Having said this; I will not tolerate if you put people down, or insult them.  This is America, where we are blessed to have a free voice, and I want every voice to be respected.  I will respect your voice if you disagree with me, and I will expect you to respect my voice, and the voices of others.  Too many times I go to a website and people are puting others down, using derogatory language, etc.  Comments like these will be deleted.  So, comment away, I won’t be hurt if you disagree; I will politely respect your views.

My hope is to make this a place for civilized conversations to occur regarding current topics.  Please, respect others, and help this blog grow by telling people you know who would like a blog like this.

So, comment away, and spread the word!

PETA at it again!

It’s that time of year again where the best tennis players in the world spend a fort night at Wimbeldon.  Everybody from around the world is invited to come to the grass courts and enjoy some great tennis; everybody except for the pigeons.  In years past, pigeons have made their home at Wimbeldon, and this as posed as a distraction to the competators, and a health risk for the spectators.  A few years ago, the management bought 2 hawks to help keep the pigeons out of the area; and they have done a good job except for two particular locations.  Well; this year, they decided to hire on some sharp shooters to take down the pesky birds so that competators and visitors may have a more pleasant experience.  I think it’s a great idea; take out those hideous creatures.  But PETA has different ideals and morals.  They believe that it’s a crime to do such a hideous act, and that the organizers should go to jail for cruelty to animals.  Organizers claim that they used the most humane way to get rid of the pigeons first, and then went to the snipers next.  I for one can’t imagine the horrors of waking up tomorrow morning and having 5 less pigeons in the world, can you?  PETA get a life and save a child, not a pigeon.

Hilary Clinton

Well, Hilary Clinton is at it again!  This time she is making a plea for more money.  The money isn’t to help her get elected, or to help her contribute money to a worthwhile cause.  She is asking for donations because she too far in debt to pay herself back from the loans that she took for her campaign.  If she can’t pay off her debt, she can only get 250,00 back.  The funny thing about this is that there are actually people out there who feel sorry for her, and are donating more money.  It’s the democrats that claim themselves as fiscally responsible, ha!

Our Soldiers

June 22, 2008 / Posted by: User Imageadmin / Category: Iraq War

I was listening to our local Air America station the other day, and they were talking about how the soldiers who were dying over in Iraq were not dying to protect or freedom, but were dying more like occupiers.  They also went as far as saying that the people who are killing our soldiers are just protecting their land from us intruders.  How can they spit such garbage?  The truth of the matter is this.  Many soldiers who are there are there because they realize the good that is going on over there, and that they are establishing a better way of life for all Iraqis, and the attacks are coming from people from outside of Iraq who don’t want freedom spread through the middle east.  Also, soldiers are going over there because they realize that they are protecting our freedom and way of life.  They know that if they are in Iraq, terrorists will go over to Iraq and focus on the troops who are trying to spread freedom, rather than plot an attack on U.S. soil.  I know this because I have a friend in the military, and I’ve spoken with a few military wives.  One final note, terrorism worldwide is going down.  Think about that before you start bashing the war, and shouting for change.
