With the rise of gas and food prices, many Americans are traveling less, donating less, and trying to find ways to cut down on their grocery bill. One place that many are not cutting back on is our pet expenses; in fact many are spending more on their pets. One way that our pets are being humanized is by sending them to pet resorts. For a mere $55 a night, Fido can enjoy a large kennel with with a bed and tv. Tack on an addition $30; he can have an individual pool time, and an additional $15 ensures that he will have quality 1-1 time. This adds up to $100 a day. I find it shocking and stupid that many Americans are cutting back on their own needs, but willing to spend unlimited amounts of money to keep Fido comfortable. My way of making sure my dog is comfortable, is bying him a $30 pet bed from Petsmart, and that’s it. Pets are pets, stop humanizing them.
