Economic Crisis

You knew one day it was going to happen; one day something so big was going to happen during the Republicans watch, and all fingers would be pointed at them. The sad thing is that… it’s really not the Republicans fault. Now, I’m not saying that it’s all the democrats fault either; but the media, the voting public, and democratic senators are quick to place the blame on the Republicans; anything for a vote. Here’s how I see things regarding this.

1) The bailout bill was a lose-lose situation. If it passes, people begin screaming that we are becoming a socialist nation, and government is intruding way to much on the public sector. I agree with this, but, if nothing gets done, and businesses fold; how many more people now lose their jobs? And with loss of jobs comes unemployment; and hire taxes anyway.

2) The bailout failed, and now citizens are crying foul because congressmen didn’t protect the people. People are saying that the Republicans are too in bed with corporations, and we need to get more democrats in office. Um, by the reports I’ve been reading, a lot of this is occuring because of the deregulation bills that they pushed through.

3) Finally; all parties are to blame, but only one is shouldering the load. I believe that the Republican party is to partially to blame, but the democrats need to be accountable as well. What about all the democrats in bed with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac? What about Congressman Franks? Finally, what about the Democrats who are so for equality that they approached lenders and said that they need to make loans more available to low income earners. This is truly why we are in this mess right now; because the democrats are so for equality and what everybody to be on the same plane, that people got over their head.

This needs to end, and needs to end quick. John McCain is taking heat for trying to step in, and Obama is getting praise for saying “calm down.” I’m sorry Mr. Obama, I am calm because I’m young and am living below my means, but I do need YOU to take responsibility and act.

In fact, that’s what we need from people in congress, responsibility. Instead we have both parties playing the role of a two-year old saying “It’s your fault.” Give me a break.

Government Programs

Obama and Biden are quick to attack McCain on tax breaks, and quick to introduce government programs that they want tax payers to pay for; especially the well off. In fact, Biden is calling those who make 250,000+ to be more patriotic and pay more in taxes. I am a firm believer that less is more, especially when it comes to the government. The government’s role is to primarily protect it’s citizens, and to create and enforce laws. I also believe that the people need to take care of each other buy contributing to charitable organizations. Having said that, let’s take a look at the charitable contributions by the presidential candidates and Joe Biden.

In the years 2000-2004, Obama donated .9% of his total income to charity; including tithing, and it wasn’t until he was in the national spotlight that he started to donate a respectable amount… 4.7% in 2005 and 6.1% in 2006. Although I view his contributions as being an insult, his contributions are actually far better than his running mate’s. From 1998-2007, Joe Biden and his wife made a total of $2,450,042, and their TOTAL charitable contribution was $3,690. Now, I make far less than Joe does, but I contribute more to charity than he does.

John McCain, who has been attacked recently for being out-of-touch, has given far more to charity than the two democratic leaders stated above. In 2007, John McCain donated $105,467 to charity (26%) and $64,695 (18%) in 2006. On top of that; all of his royalty fees and pay raises go to charity.

Now I understand that he is married to a wealthy woman, and we don’t know her status, but the bottom line is that McCain gives back to those in need. Why isn’t the media or other’s willing to talk about this? John McCain realises that the rich can and do more with their money than the average citizen. Yes, the rich have bigger houses, more boats, and more toys, but they also give more to a cause; especially a cause of their choice.

One of the greatest things about being human is to be charitable with one’s money. The dems don’t realize this. They don’t trust corporations or people to do this, and they believe that the government needs to fill the role.

One of the greatest investments one can make is home ownership. As we have seen over the past few years though, home ownership takes great responsibility and accountability. Once you are a home owner though, you need to progressively make improvents to the house. One affordable way to make improvements is by changing the faucets in your house. Before you visit one of those box store, visit faucetoutlet.com. Minor investments in attractive faucets can drastically change the appearance of your house.

We’ve all been there before.  You walk up to the car you purchased a few months ago, take your keys out, and notice that there is a big scratch on your car.  At this point, you don’t care who or what caused this, and you know that they don’t sell the right color of nail polish.  The next time this happens, don’t visit a detail shop, visit tcpglobal.com. This website has everything for your car cosmetic needs, including the popular airbrush.

What a great day

First of all, it’s been a while since my last post.  It has been a hectic week, and I just haven’t had the time of day to write anything.  In the next few weeks though, I will revisit the discussion of religion in the world.  But right now, I want to talk about what happened today.  No, I’m not talking about the bailout that has just been announced, I’m talking about college football.  College football is by far the greatest sport out there today.  It beats the NFL, NHL, MLB, and all other sports not listed here.  College football is great because the underdog- no matter how overmatced, has a shot to defeat their opponent.  Take today for example: today 9 ranked teams lost- and six of them lost to unranked teams.  Some of the great games included: Michigan winning the game after being down 19 at the half, Ole Miss blocking an extra point to preserve the lead, and Alabama holding on to a 41-30 victory after lead 31-0 at halftime.  The gridiron is the greatest equalizer of all the sports.  It holds the attention of all the fans, and the underdog has a decent shot at overtaking the stronger team.  Saturday’s during the fall is certainly the best time of the year.

A World Without Religion

There’s a campaign that has hit the streets here in Phoenix.  No, it’s not a campaign to get McCain or Obama elected, a campaign to fight hunger, or even a campaign for better education.  The campaign that is hitting our billboards is one that cries “Imagine a World without religion.”  I want you to think about that for a moment.  What would the world be without religion?  The organizers of this campaign believe that religion is the root of all problems.  It’s the root of bigotry, prejudice, sexism and wars.  They claim religion is a fairytale for adults, and it serves no purpose.  I tend to look at religion a different way.  Religion teaches about love, tollerance (with the exception of a small few), peace, and humility.  If there were no religion, how many charitable organizations would there be?  Churches are one of the most giving to their community, let alone religous non-profit organizations like St. Vincent de Paul, St. Mary’s, and Salavation Army.  If there were no religion, there is no hope.  One thing I find most important about my faith is in the hope of eternal life, the hope of seeing my deceased relatives.  If I didn’t have my faith, I wouldn’t have the outlook and hope that I have.  Finally, atheists believe that man is above religion, and because of this man doesn’t need religion.  The truth of the matter is that man is not above religion, and the reason that war, famine, bigotry, etc. exist in the world is because man exists, not because religion exists.  But because atheists view mankind as a god, they can’t comprehend that man is the root of these evils; they are forced to believe and point out that the root of evil is religion.  More on this later today…

Although I do not believe that global warming is as bad as some say, or that it is entirely man made, I do believe that we need to do our part to take care of the earth. There are several ways to do this, some big, some small. One way to do this is to buy an energy efficient vacuum cleaner. Sebo vacuum cleaners are durable, clean, and energy efficient. So, do your part, and check out the Sebo Vacuum.

A lost art

Last night was one of the greatest nights of my life because I was able to attend the ASU-UGA football game. The game itself wasn’t that great, and I knew that the Sun Devils would be overmatched going into the game. It was the atmosphere that was incredible. The game was a sell-out, the crowd was pumped, and there were enough Georgia fans on hand to make things entertaining. The seats that my wife and parents so lovingly got for me are right next to the student section at around the 40 yard line.

The problem with the seats are that they are right along the isle, so there is constant sitting and standing throughout the game (I choose not to complain though; I love college football and my Sun Devils even thought they are 2-2). The one thing I did notice throughout the game was the absence of “excuse me” and “thank you.” As I was standing and sitting to allow people by me I began to realize that if someone approached me, it was my duty to move, or I was going to be stepped over or on. If I did move, a thank you was not to be issued because once again, it was my obligation to get out of the way.

As the game went on, and less and less acknowledged me, more side comments would flow from my mouth. I figured if the weren’t going to excuse themselves, they should at least acknowledge me after I moved for them. Some people acknowledged me after I made my comment, and others just gave me a “what the hell did you say?” glance. Either way, I got the acknowledgement that I was looking for, and moved on to the game.

Saying “please”, “thank you”, and “excuse me” is becoming a lost art, and we need to make sure that we teach our kids (and ourselves if necessary) these words.
