Polarization of Washington

As I see the situation with Wall Street and banks unfold, I find it fascinating how democrats and republicans are reacting to the situation.  Democrats are blaming Bush and his policies, Republican’s are blaming the do-nothing democratic led congress.  Harry Reid was quoted as saying he had no idea as to what needed to be done.  These aren’t quite the words I expect, or want to hear from a leader.

Regardless of who, or what is to blame for this colapse, and all the bail-outs that are occuring, we need both democrats and republicans to work together for the betterment of the people.  The problem is is that there is so much hatred and disgust going on right now that they can’t work together.  The democrats hate the Bush Whitehouse, and they want to stop everything that he wants to push through.  The republicans believe that the democrats are too liberal in their views, and don’t do enough to protect the American peoples safety, or want to tax corporations and the wealthy more.

Right now, millions of Americans are looking to Washington to work for the people and do what’s best.  But with the way that things are shaking up, we can’t expect them to work together.  The American people need to trust themselves and make smart decisions.  This is what America was truly founded upon.  America was founded by the people, and is strong because of the people.  The people cannot look to the government as a saving grace, the people need to view the government as something that will not get enough done because the pure hatred.  Once the people start forming a stronger voice (through action not just through voting), then the government will have to begin working for us.
