Tollerance, acceptance, and …

We all know that there was a tragic school shooting that took place earlier this week. What you may not know is that the victim was a young gay teen you decided to flaunt his sexuality. Because school districts are becoming more liberal, and are open to anything except for conservative values (because we’re closed minded and believe in right and wrong), the district allowed this gay teen to wear make-up and female clothing to school. I’m sure the ACLU, other civil liberty and gay groups applauded the decision, and are thankful for the expression that the school allowed this teen to show. The family on the other hand believes that the allowance of these actions is what ultimately lead to the teen’s death. Over the next few months, lawsuits will probably be filed, conservative groups will say that the teen should not have been allowed to do this, and civil liberty groups will blame the school for not have CIA opperatives watching his every move and protecting him.

Being gay is not normal. Less than 10% of the world population is gay. The real reason that gays are being treated the way they are is because they want to flaunt their sexuality to the whole world and MAKE people accept the lifestyle. Look, as a society we accept the gay person as who they are. We don’t accept the lifestyle, and it makes sense. We are programed to reject things that are abnormal (cancer, diseases, bad food, etc). Tollerance and acceptance needs to be evaluated, and then rejected. We need to love the person; and not be forced to tollerate or accept the lifestyle. It’s because of this doctrine that this poor teen is now dead.

Thou Holier than you

“He’s in Hell now!” “Burn in Hell, Timothy.” These are some of the headlines that were printed around the country the morning after Timothy McVay was executed. One of the things that I hate more than anything is when people judge others, and try to say where someone is going to land up after they die. Truth be told, you never know where someone is going to end up when they die; because you never know what is on their heart and soul the moment that they die. Timothy McVay could have said a perfect contrtion (expression of sorry and guilt), and could be in heaven now. We just don’t no the power and mercy of God.

Also, I don’t like it when religious people claim that they are going to heaven because they believe in God. Ladies and gentleman, there is a difference between believing in God, and trying to immitate Him. One must immitate God in order to get to heaven, not just merely believe. To merely believe is a cop-out, and justification for actions. One must act more like Christ when nobody is looking, not just when people are around. For example: a few months ago, a Promise Keepers event was being held here in the United States. After the group of men left to go home, the hotel reported that there was a huge increase in the number of porn movie subcriptions. These men have no problem professing their faith in public, but in private, they don’t live what they believe.

Let me close saying this: I’m a devout Catholic. I try to live by the faith on a daily basis, and preach by actions, not words. I am not holier than you; and I believe that you may have a better chance of reaching heaven that I do.

The Sunday Pulpit

One of the main things I don’t like about Washington (on both sides of the aisle), is that they seem to really enjoy talking out of both sides of their mouths. Republicans preach morals, but many of the get wrapped in some sort of scandal; the democrats preach fair elections and reforming; but many of the are wrapped up in pork barrel and ear marks. One thing that I don’t seem to understand is “the separation of church and state.” I do understand the government not giving federal money to churches, and places of worship. I also understand how churches cannot endorse a certain candidate because of the their tax status. What I don’t understand is how democratic candidates are can continuously be invited to places of worship, sit on the alter during service, and give a political speach either during or after the service. Isn’t this the same as a church endorsing a candidate? Over Father’s Day weekend, candidate Obama sat on the alter during a service, and gave a rousing speech about black father’s being absent from the family unit. Many news outlets praised him for his words, and said that he was right on. Can you imagine the uproar if a conservative Catholic candidate gave a rousing speech on abortion or any other type of conservative talking point? The media and democrats alike would be outraged; they probably even cringe at the thought. Democrats are so against religion in the public square, they even send troops into conservative churches to see if they are endorsing a candidate. There is obviously a double standard when it comes to the use of the Sunday pulpit. As long as you’re a liberal church endorsing a liberal candidate; by all means use the pulpit to spread the word. But if you’re conservative, and believe there is absolute right and wrong (that’s were the drawing point lies; I’ll talk about that in another post), then you’re violating laws, and must be reported. The pulpit is used for sermons and homily’s, not for politicians to spread their garbage.

Is NFP effective?

One of the biggest complaints about NFP is that it’s too hard to follow the guidelines; there are too many rules; or you mean we have to wait THAT long before we have marital relations again!  One thing that you will want to know about NFP is that it is very effective in both preventing pregnancy, and acheiving pregnancy.  The catch is that you must follow the guidelines of the women’s cycle.  If you flirt with the rules, you flirt with pregnancy, and if you abide by them, there is a good chance that your wife will not get pregnant.

More than acheiving or preventing pregnancy, NFP is effective on the marriage.  I’m sure you know that right now, there is a 50% + divorce rate in the United States.  Did you also know that there is a 50% divorce rate in the Catholic Church?  But, of the 10%-15% that follow NFP (yes, only 10%-15% of catholics follow this teaching) 95% + remain married until the death of one of the spouses.  (You may lift up your jaw now).  This probably comes as surprising to you, but if you try to understand the purpose of NFP, you begin to realize why.  Contraception encourages and makes the woman ready on demand.  If a man asks his wife to contracept, the man is asking his wife to be ready for his desire 24/7.  This does not foster a deep relationship among the marriage, it fosters a SELFISH relationship among the husband and wife (the man expects his wife to be willing, and the couple is closed to life; children teach the act of selflessness.  You see, NFP promotes communication among husband and wife, and it also promotes selflessness by the controlling of one’s desires, and fostering of children.

As you can see, NFP is effective in two very important ways: it prevents or acheives pregnancy, and it helps the marriage bond.  If you want to know more about birth control, and how one Pope prophesized how it would effect the world, visit this link: http://www.papalencyclicals.net/Paul06/p6humana.htm

Will the love affair between between Obama and the media please stop!  Here we are, a few months away from the election, and the media is in awe that this man is going to Afganistan and Iraq.  Breaking news is all over the place, programs are being interupted, it’s like we should make today a national holiday (or Monday since today is Saturday).  He has gotten more attention for going that Bush, and when McCain is over there, it’s like there’s no story at all.  A couple of things to point out: 1) It is going to be interesting if the media will show how the military personel really feel about his plans for the war and national security.  The last time I checked, the military was overwhelming voting Republican, and they want McCain in the office over Obama.  2)  Will just one reporter or anchor bring up this question:  Why the hell did it take Obama so long to get over there?  This should be his second or third visit, not his first.

The love affair between Obama and the media is sickening for a couple of reasons; and I just want to hurl when I hear the press cover him sometimes.  Very rarely is he asked tough questions, and any mistake that he makes, instead of pointing it out, the’ll spin it and make the republicans look evil.  The media has a lot of power and influence, and I just have a feeling that that the way the are covering this race, the Republican party has no shot this November.  I will admit, the Republicans put themselves in this situation as well, but, the media needs to be objective, and they are not at this point.  They are courting Obama and standing McCain up.

World Youth Day

One of the sad realities of life is that humans are infactuated with negative news.  You know the saying, no news is good news.  For example, Americans would rather hear about abuses in the Church rather than the good the Church does for human kind.  A teen that kills his girlfriend or sleeps with his high school teacher is a hotter headline than a teen that spends his weekend at the nursing home taking care of those who are in the twilight of their lives.  Such is the case with World Youth Day.  How many of you know that millions of young catholics are coming together in Austrailia right now to celebrate their faith, and spend time with the pope.  Some of you may be saying “I’m not Catholic, therefore I don’t care.”  Even if you aren’t Catholic, this event should move you because so many teens, which is often thought of a troubled or lost generation, are coming together for a good cause; to be united with each other and celebrate.  This event should have much more coverage than it is receiving, and it’s sad that all the negative news has to overshadow the good.

Mortgage Crisis

I was doing my daily check of the news yesterday, and one of the articles that I was presented with was “Vulture Real Estate Investors Swoop In.”  I’m tired of the homeowners who have made stupid decisions be cast as victims, and the ones who make smart decisions be cast as money grubbing jerks.  The people who are facing foreclosures made dumb decisions by buying houses that they KNEW they could not afford, because they got greedy.

I know this because when my wife and I bought our house, we were presented with an ARM.  The ARM sounded like a great deal.  Buy the house at a low interest rate, and after 5 years, the rate would jump to the current interest rate.  I thought that this would be a good opportunity!  We could get into a larger house with the ARM, pay a lower introductory price, and save up for when the rate would jump.  But after careful consideration, we decided that that was not the best option for us.  We didn’t know where we would be in 5 years, and we felt uncomfortable purchasing a house that was worth more than we could afford.  So, we bought the smaller, less attractive house, on a fixed interest rate, and turned down the ARM.  Since then, we have refinanced the house twice, and once again we were offered the 5-year ARMS; and once again we did the responsible thing and declined.  We don’t regret a single decision that we made.

The morgage crisis is going on right now not because of predatory lenders (although I recognize that there are some), or the Bush administration.  It’s caused by millions of greedy Americans who wanted more than what they could afford.  So, in the case of the mortgage crisis we face today, it’s not the rich who were greedy, but the lower-middle classes that took on more than they could handle.  These buyers are not victims, they just made dumb choices that they must now live with.
