Will the love affair between between Obama and the media please stop!  Here we are, a few months away from the election, and the media is in awe that this man is going to Afganistan and Iraq.  Breaking news is all over the place, programs are being interupted, it’s like we should make today a national holiday (or Monday since today is Saturday).  He has gotten more attention for going that Bush, and when McCain is over there, it’s like there’s no story at all.  A couple of things to point out: 1) It is going to be interesting if the media will show how the military personel really feel about his plans for the war and national security.  The last time I checked, the military was overwhelming voting Republican, and they want McCain in the office over Obama.  2)  Will just one reporter or anchor bring up this question:  Why the hell did it take Obama so long to get over there?  This should be his second or third visit, not his first.

The love affair between Obama and the media is sickening for a couple of reasons; and I just want to hurl when I hear the press cover him sometimes.  Very rarely is he asked tough questions, and any mistake that he makes, instead of pointing it out, the’ll spin it and make the republicans look evil.  The media has a lot of power and influence, and I just have a feeling that that the way the are covering this race, the Republican party has no shot this November.  I will admit, the Republicans put themselves in this situation as well, but, the media needs to be objective, and they are not at this point.  They are courting Obama and standing McCain up.

Leave it to the Media

If you went to CNN.com yesterday, here were some of the stories you read about: “Uncle goes to jail for kidnapping of neice for sex ring,” “Bush gets heckled during Fourth of July speech,” “Obama’s comments on Iraq spark flip-flop charge,” and my favorite “Cindy Brady stops show to vomit.”

There was one major story that took place yesterday that didn’t make it on CNN.com, or any other major news outlet.  That story was “More than 1,100 Troops in Iraq to Re-enlist in Independence Day Ceremony.”  This is a very important story, it shows how troops believe in what they are doing, and they WANT to be there, and WANT to finish the job.  I try to stay away from media bias claims.  I know that the media is liberal because my mom worked in the industry for around 30 years, and I worked in it for about 1 year.  But now I believe that I have to jump on the media bias band-wagon.  When CNN is quick to report a death, suicide, or show a disgruntled military or family member on screen to rant about the war, but won’t cover how 1,215 members currently serving in Iraq are reenlisting for duty, how can one not see the bias?  I was pissed yesterday when I didn’t see the story being covered by anyone, and then even more furious when I didn’t see it today.  I did a search on the article title in yahoo today, and only blogs and military news outlets have any kind of coverage on this.  This is disturbing and sad, and I now can positivly say that the media has an agenda.  Well, one thing is for sure; I can laugh harder when I hear Air America complain about the media being biased.  Well, I’m done for the day, and I’m off to read some more of the comments by liberal citizens who believe that hecking Bush during a 4th of July speech was  appropriate, and a form of free speech.  (Notice how I didn’t make fun of anyone).  Have a great weekend!

Our Soldiers

I was listening to our local Air America station the other day, and they were talking about how the soldiers who were dying over in Iraq were not dying to protect or freedom, but were dying more like occupiers.  They also went as far as saying that the people who are killing our soldiers are just protecting their land from us intruders.  How can they spit such garbage?  The truth of the matter is this.  Many soldiers who are there are there because they realize the good that is going on over there, and that they are establishing a better way of life for all Iraqis, and the attacks are coming from people from outside of Iraq who don’t want freedom spread through the middle east.  Also, soldiers are going over there because they realize that they are protecting our freedom and way of life.  They know that if they are in Iraq, terrorists will go over to Iraq and focus on the troops who are trying to spread freedom, rather than plot an attack on U.S. soil.  I know this because I have a friend in the military, and I’ve spoken with a few military wives.  One final note, terrorism worldwide is going down.  Think about that before you start bashing the war, and shouting for change.

Iraq War

There are a lot of peole out there who are against the war in Iraq, and even Afganistan.  Citizen’s, actors/actresses, and politicians are among this group.  Have you noticed thought that an overwhelming group in support of the war (and this president) is the military.  Many troops are volunteering for another tour of duty.  This is happening because the troups are noticing what is going on over there; and the impact that they are making on the citizens of Iraq.  There is a lot of good, and the best thing for the military and Iraq is for us to finish the job that we set to do.  Knowing this, it’s not surprising to see that the majority in the military vote republican.

So when you vote this November and think about the troops, listen to what the troops think is best, not those loud mouths in Washington and on tv think is best for them.
