Flip-flopping

We’re nearing the end of the summer, and the mud-slinging between candidates is getting worse and worse. The one thing I don’t understand is when candidates, voters and pundits attack law-makers for flip flopping. Flip flopping isn’t necessary a bad thing, and everybody does it. For example: you may be wanting to purchase a Honda Odyssey. After careful consideration, you realize that the Kia Sedona is 3,000 cheaper, and offers a better waranty than the Odyssey; so you decide to go with the Kia. You just comitted a flip-flop. There are three things that need to be investigated when a law-maker commits a flip-flop. The first thing is how often do they change their position? Never, sometimes, as often as the wind blows? Next, why did they change opinions. Personal, professional, bribe or for votes? Third, did the persons final stance meet your morals, or go against them. News media, talk shows, and candidates try to make flip-flopping a bad thing, but sometimes it is for good reason, and it shouldn’t have too much impact on the candidate you choose.
