Half-way point
admin / Category: UncategorizedWell, it’s Saturday evening, and the Summer Olympic games are at the halfway point. As a spector, I like the first half better than the second half. I’m a big fan of swimming, and Michael Phelps is the story of these Olympics. There are two things that I notice about Michael Phelps. 1) He’s a great competator. He doesn’t just want to win, he consistantly expects himself to do his best race in and race out. He is dissapointed in himself if he doesn’t do his best, even if he wins. 2) He’s humble in his success. You don’t hear him say he’s he best, and he very rarely shows any kind of reaction when he wins; and when he does celebrate, it’s not to the point that it’s an in your face I won and you loss. This is refreshing to see, and he is taking his success very well.
Some other notes about the Olympics. Watching the Olympics has made me proud to be an American. The more we know about the Chinese culture, and other cultures around the world, the more I realize how great it is to be an American. Even given the times that we are now, we are far better of than the majority of the world. Finally, America is not as hated as some want you to think. The Americans by far are getting the best reception (with the exception of the Chinese), and our Athletes are doing a great job being humble winners and good losers. Let’s see what the next week holds in store.
